Surveyor 3 was the Surveyor-C flight article launched on April 17, 1967. After bouncing twice during descent it settled in Oceanus Procellarum, remotely dug and tested lunar soil, and later became the first robotic spacecraft visited by astronauts when Apollo 12 recovered hardware.
