Viking 1 Orbiter
Viking 1's orbiter carried the lander to Mars, entered orbit on June 19, 1976, and mapped and imaged the planet in support of landing-site selection and extended science. NASA shut it down on August 7, 1980 after it exhausted attitude-control propellant.
